Surgery Update - Recovering Quickly
This morning’s surgery went well. John’s doing great! Alert, moving well, sitting up, and cracking jokes. He’s settled into his room in the Neuro ICU at Prisma Health in Greenville, SC.
The surgeons weren’t able to get all of the tumor, but the goal to safely remove as much as 70% was achieved. They feel good about that. They’ll do a post-op MRI to try to determine how much of the tumor is remaining.
A preliminary biopsy indicates a low-grade glioma, but we won’t know the specifics until we get the molecular biopsy results in about three weeks.
The good news is that John’s vital signs, range of motion, and speech were as good post-surgery as they were going into the operation.
We are so relieved and grateful for how well the surgery went! We’re also thankful for how quickly he is recovering. The surgeons are saying that he will be able to go home in the next day or so. It’s good to see his wits and optimistic spirit are very much intact.
John and the entire Freeman family give sincere thanks to the surgical and recovery teams here at Prisma and all of you for your enduring support, prayers, and well wishes. They help more than you know. Thank you.
More updates to come.
