John's tumor announcement & plan of action
Thomas Freeman here. I’m starting by reposting my mom’s Facebook/IG post about John from Monday, July 8th. We’re all so thankful and appreciative of the support that our whole family has received from our local communities and across the globe. We feel lucky to have you all rooting for John.
Mary Freeman’s original post:
“Dear Friends, Caleb & I have some hard news to share about our sweet son John. He has a brain tumor located in his left parietal lobe. John will be undergoing awake brain surgery this Wednesday, July 10 at 7:30am to remove as much of the tumor as is safely possible. At this time, the doctors believe it’s either a Grade 2 or 3 tumor but we won’t know for sure until we receive the biopsy results which should take about 3 weeks.
We’re blessed to have two stellar neurosurgeons and an amazing oncology team caring for John. He has the best of care in his team assembled at Prisma Health just 7 minutes drive from home. The BEST. We’re also surrounded by an abundance of love and support from family and dear friends. Our son Thomas and his wife Kayla have arrived from Austin, TX and will be staying until July 19. Having our core family together is the best medicine of all.
John is remarkably brave, strong, and optimistic and has shown amazing grace in the face of adversity. His example of courageously dealing with what lies ahead has set a very high bar for all of us. We ask for your prayers for John, our family, and his medical team. We pray for the best possible outcome for his surgery and treatment moving forward. We especially ask for prayers from our Dragon Boat Family who know this journey all too well.
We take this journey one day at a time, one appointment at a time, one test/procedure/surgery at a time. We find great comfort and HOPE in any nugget of positive news we receive. Keep the positive healing energy flowing John’s way. He’s covered in LOVE! He feels and appreciates it very much! Thank you for all your prayers, love, and support. ❤️”
This blog will be our central hub for updates on John’s surgery and post-op recovery. Thank you again for your support.
